Kakadudledeux

After getting the car started and stopping by Jabiru for supplies (but not laundry, sadly), we proceeded to Red Lily Billabong. This is now one of my favourite camping spots ever. Red Lily looks beautiful during the day... but at night when we turned a torch on the water, we could see FOUR pairs of eyes staring back at us!

Fortunately this was the largest wildlife I had to deal with.

That little dot of light? Crocodile

In this photo, Greg is tempting the crocodiles.
I am in the background saying, "Don't stand so close to the water!"

The second night we were there, we noticed one of the pairs of eyes was close to our side of the shore. Of course Greg decided to go down and have a look. He spent a fair bit of time staring at this crocodile, which he said was only a metre in size. After about 5 minutes of starting at it, he turned around to walk away. The crocodile chose this moment to freak out, making a massive splash which caused Greg to high-step it away from the bank at double speed! When the waves died down though, we had another look at the water and the crocodile had fled all the way to the other side of the billabong.

This is the second time on the trip that Greg has been chased by a reptile whose bark was bigger than its' bite.

Unfortunately, it was here that we discovered that the radiator had cracked at the top. Rather than go on to any more 4wding, we decided to go to Darwin early to get the radiator fixed up. Of course, as soon as we got to Darwin, we thought we might just poke around and see what sort of jobs were around. Next thing you know, Greg had a job (Within 18 hours!) and we were renting, and that was it for our travels of 2014.

While we planned to continue driving over Christmas, we came back to Perth for a birthday holiday where a waterslide went terribly wrong...
